School is stressful—childcare shouldn’t be.

Children are always learning. At Morris Street Learning Garden, children are invited to decide how that learning takes place.

We play together, engage thoughtfully with concepts and conflict, and collaborate with the greater, natural world.

After school, on holiday breaks, and during summer vacation, Morris Street Learning Garden offers children something that many of their days are lacking: authentic self-determination.

Our schedule emphasizes open-ended projects and playtime both indoors and out. The space and schedule are organized to encourage children’s independence; Caitlyn expertly facilitates the kids’ engagement with their own interests.

Over the last three years, some of the child-led projects we have worked on include:

-Creating a band with homemade instruments and performing an original song

-Putting on a variety of puppet shows featuring original characters, sets, and stories

-Developing and distributing homemade comics and books

-Digging a massive hole in the backyard (and later planting an apple tree there)

-Producing countless cardboard-based inventions from vehicles and clubhouses to tools and toys

-Building outdoor forts and play spaces using loose parts and found materials

and so much more!

“MSLG is the one place outside of our home where we can be entirely sure that our kids are safe, heard, celebrated and nurtured.”

“While the care provided after school, on no-school-days, and during the summer is so important and vital to our family's survival and livelihood, even more importantly MSLG provides fulfillment, experiences, and friendship for my kids. They get to create deep relationships with their neighbors and classmates. ”
